According to Cointelegraph, the indicator reached the mark of 629 EH/s, but four days later it sharply decreased to 415 EH/s. At the time of writing, the hashrate is at the level of 440 EH/s.
The drop in hashrate was due to the fact that many bitcoin miners in Texas stopped working to reduce the increased load on the state’s power systеm. Since January 14, 2023, a sharp drop in temperature has been observed in the region, which has led to an increase in demand for electricity.
Texas is one of the key centers of Bitcoin mining in the USA. According to Foundry USA, the region accounts for 29% of the total US hash rate. Many bitcoin miners moved their facilities to this region after the ban on cryptocurrency mining in China.
